SharePoint comprises a multipurpose set of Web technologies backed by a common technical infrastructure. By default, SharePoint has a Microsoft Office-like interface, and it is closely integrated with the Office suite. The web tools are designed to be usable by non-technical users. Although we utilize SharePoint primarily for document & file management, other uses include creating collaboration portals, enterprise search, and business intelligence. It also has system integration, process integration, and workflow automation capabilities.
There are essentially three dedicated SharePoint sites within our network used regularly by Home Office and Community staff members. Other SharePoint sites exist for special projects. Below is a diagram of the three dedicated sites and their intended use.
Maxwell Group, Inc. | Communication Hub
This is the company’s SharePoint landing site. It is intended to provide general company news and provide quick links to all other SharePoint resources (navigation/links located at the top of the site).
Maxwell Group, Inc. | Resource Hub
This site is intended to house non-community-specific documents that are utilized by the communities. Home Office staff have the ability to Add/Edit/Delete information (based on discipline) on this page. Community Users only have the ability to Read information on this page.
Community / Office Specific | SharePoint Site
These sites are intended to house community-specific documents that are utilized by the community. These sites are essentially “owned/managed” by the Community. Community Users have the ability to Add/Edit/Delete information (based on discipline) on this page. Home Office staff also have the ability to Add/Edit/Delete information (based on discipline) on these sites.
